About Me

Hardcore DEVO fan since 1980. In 1988 I decided to follow my genetic imperative in archiving DEVO memorabilia. Formally met the band in the mid 1990's thanks to Lisa Casale, and began assisting with graphics, screen printing, and archiving over the next few years.

Officially started working for the band in 2002 as a paid employee of DEVO, Inc. Since then I've been assisting them on tour, managing their archives, helping with graphic design, providing tons of content for their online presence, and keeping in touch with their Devoted fanbase.

In 2010 we teamed up with the Mother Agency & Warner Bros Records to give you even more DEVO in the form of their "Something For Everybody" release...their first full length album in 20 years.

Now in these post-Warner Brothers days, DEVO needs your support more than ever. We hope you enjoy this new DEVO web site, launched in March 2012.

Be sure to check out the "Concert Photos" & "Concert Videos" categories in the 'Photos' & 'Video' pages at clubdevo.com. I will post photos & videos from the road while I'm with DEVO at any of their concerts, so check there for tour reports.

"Dearest Alex, Samantha and Lisa..

At some point many years ago, before I was in a band from Seattle, I worked for free during the days pushing cases and being a crew guy at a place called "the Bachanal" in San Diego.

Devo had never played that club and thankfully would never play that club again. I want to say the year was 1989. I was there for load in and sound check, and was WAY more enthusiastic than usual... This was DEVO… up close. Amazed to watch them work. Life changing.

Everyone was great. Show went good. They used some projection that I was able to assist with. It was legendary to see them in a place so small. By the end of the night it was a full on Devo show, one that everyone in SD would talk about for some time. Seemed the whole music community was there.

There was no way to not see them as heroes. It was great being in their midst, and one gentleman in particular was extremely kind to me. Here I was, some punk kid working crew who looked up to and said hello to 'Bob 2' from Devo. And he was so cool and friendly, and kept referring to me all through the night. He asked if I could look out for a couple of his VIP type friends/family, and they were wonderful as well.

It ended up being a night that was memorable for many great reasons, but the top of the list was his being so respectful to a stranger. And quite seriously, nowadays, when I end up being nice to someone I don't know, it has everything to do with that man Bob I met, all those years ago.

We all send our love to you.
Again, strangers, but connected...
We will be thinking of you and him, deeply and truly."

As an original member of Devo, Bob Casale was there in the trenches with me from the beginning. He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got. He was excited about the possibility of Mark Mothersbaugh allowing Devo to play shows again. His sudden death from conditions that lead to heart failure came as a total shock to us all.  -- Gerald Casale, Devo founder.

A message from Lisa Casale (Bob's wife):

Thanks to all of you who have been there for Alex, Sam, and I during this difficult time.

Bob's sudden passing was a shock to us all, but your love, prayers, and generous donations have helped us push forward. Although the last few weeks have been very difficult for us, our spirits were lifted when we saw so many wonderful online posts and emails from fans who have interacted with Bob in some way over the years, and who all remembered the same qualities about him: Warm & Friendly. Just wanted to finally reach out to you all. Thank you, Thank you! -- Love, Lisa, Alex, and Samantha / The Casale Family

Turkey Monkey! An early DEVO visual. Created by combining a photo of a space traveling monkey with imagery from packaging of turkey-lacing pins.

DEVO allowed Natalia Brożyńska, a young film student in Poland, to use the demo version of "Blockhead" in a short movie she created called "Searching For DEVO" as part of her film school studies. She hand-crafted all the puppets & set design herself. Gerald Casale of DEVO said this after view Natalia's movie: "This sincere, labor-intensive, retro stop-action animation piece from a young girl in Poland is the latest proof that music is indeed the universal language. I felt like Devo were anthropomorphized bacteria performing sonic surgery in a Blockhead's colon." We are told that the film will be making an appearance at a film fest or two in Europe. Good luck, Natalia...and GREAT JOB on the movie! Direct Link:

DEVO Mourns Passing of Alan Myers

DEVO mourns the passing of our friend Alan Myers, DEVO’s most well-known drummer who died June 24, 2013 after his battle with cancer.

Mark Mothersbaugh often illustrated on the covers of DEVO reel-to-reel master tapes while at the studio with the band. Here are nine examples from various years. A few that are noted on the tape boxes: 1979, 1982, 1986.

Although Jerry Casale says DEVO hadn't performed this song in 30 years at the end of this video, it's probably been closer to 20 years. Still...a long time!

DEVOtee makes DEVObots App for iPhones!

Booji Boy says, "They got these things called Apps now. Magic phone toys! Fun! DEVO's got an App for iPhone now, created by a DEVOtee pal of ours, and I've been makin' sounds and building DEVObots with it since General Boy left his iPhone unattended. Check it out, Spuds!"

The App's creator says, "The App is an audio loop generator featuring unreleased DEVO loops from the 1980s that you can mix together and make your own music or sounds.
